Most of us do arithmetic the way we were taught at seven. One digit at a time, right to left, hoping nothing goes wrong in the middle. There are faster ways, and they are less tricks than a different order of doing things.

By the end of this course you will multiply, divide, square and find roots without a calculator, and usually without writing anything down.

WHO IS THIS FOR
Anyone sitting GMAT, GRE, CAT, banking or university entrance exams, where calculators are not allowed and seconds matter. School students who would like the arithmetic to stop being the difficult part. And adults who would quite like their mental maths back.

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Add and subtract from left to right, which is the directio the mind actually works in.
• Multiply by 9s, 11s, 5s and 25s on sight.
• Multiply large numbers using the vertically and crosswise method.
• Divide without long division, using Nikhilam and straight division.
• Square and cube two and three digit numbers, and find square and cube roots.
• Check any answer with digit sums, and work out the day of the week for any date.

WHAT DO YOU NEED FIRST
Mathematics to about class five, and your tables up to nine. Nothing more.
